Welcome to Year 6.
The class teacher is Mr MacKinnon and the teaching assistant is Mrs Hansford.
In Year 6 this Autumn term we will be learning.....
On Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon we have P.E. with Mrs Shenton. Children are to come to school in their P.E. kit on those days please.
PE kit details: (either Heath Fields PE Kit or plain white t-shirt; plain dark shorts; trainers; pumps and for outside: dark-coloured joggers and hoodies.
This year, homework will be set each Friday and should be returned to school for the following Friday. Each week, children are expected to read a minimum of 3-4 times per week and bring in their reading records daily. Thank you in advance for your help in supporting this.
In folders/books, they'll receive their weekly homework:
- A spelling list (personalised to their spelling ability) which they will need to practise as there will be a weekly test.
- A reminder of a times tables to focus on.
- A 100 word challenge sheet. Children need to write/word process a 100 words based on a range on genres and hopefully, include some of their learning from literacy lessons.
- They will be given a weekly reading comprehension activity - normally linked to learning in class.
'Showbie' homework details...
This year we will also be using 'Showbie'. This can be accessed via the internet on any item of technology. The children have now been shown how to access this and have been given their own log in details. These can be found in their home work books. The homework set on Showbie will be mainly maths based initially. If for any reason we are unable to attend school this may be used as a remote learning tool so it is important that the children become familiar with using it.
